Ralph Schenck Streamliner

So despite my devout adoration of the Ralph Schenck streamliner, I wasn’t able to make it out to Monterey last month to check out the debut of the streamliner’s freshly restored chassis, fitted with a reproduction body. Don Ziegler made it all better recently, however, when he sent along this photo of the streamliner I’d never seen before. Don noted that he obtained the photo from an estate in Los Angeles, so he doesn’t know who the photographer was or when the photo was taken (maybe we can send that fingerprint to the CSI guys. Enhance! Enhance!). Based on all the other photos we’ve seen of the streamliner, we’re guessing this photo was taken sometime during the 1940 racing season, when it wore No. 4. The interesting thing about this shot – besides the snazzy duds worn by the guy helping Schenck push the streamliner – is that the hood’s off, showing the Olds three-port head on the Chevrolet block. Thanks, Don!
